FNL Controversy Continues, as Students and Parents Speak Back
An online petition garnered some 500 signatures by Thursday

Members of “Friday Night Live” (FNL), the Columbia High School sketch comedy club, face Saturday detention and, in some cases, will have their prom privileges revoked, according to students who received detention and two parents whose children face punishment. This is sad. Education is about learning - even making mistakes for the purpose of learning. It is sad that the education folks making this decision seem to disregard the core purpose - the why of their role - education. Rules are not tools for learning - instead they stifle learning.
