Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a day set aside to celebrate and honor the birthday of the slain civil rights leader. The holiday is celebrated at both the federal and state levels. Here's a list of what's open and what's closed on Monday. State and local government offices are closed. Courts are closed. Financial and stock markets are closed. Post offices are closed with no regular mail delivery. Banks have the option to close. Public schools in Maplewood and South Orange are closed. NJ Transit trains will operate on a major holiday/weekend schedule. Bus schedules vary by route, and some routes may be affected. I think that its time for the US Government to recongize St Patricks Day as a PAID FEDERAL HOLIDAY. Therefore I will not Recongize Martin Luther King day or Columbus day till St Patricks Day is a paid federal holiday. The blacks have their day, the Itatlins have their day, why not the Irish.
