Armed Robbery of Two CHS Students, Police Say

The students were on their way home from a basketball game.

Two Columbia High School students walking home from a basketball game on Parker Avenue Monday night were robbed of a cell phone by two juveniles wielding a handgun, said Capt. John Perna of the Maplewood Police Department. The students were walking home from the high school at around 8 p.m. when they were approached by two males in their late teens near the intersection of Richmond Avenue, said Perna. One of the teens, who was reported to be carrying a handgun, asked one of the two students for her cell phone, Perna said. After the student turned over her phone, the two teens left and fled eastbound on Parker Ave. The police department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Maplewood Police Department Detective…
