South Orange Police Blotter: Armed Robbery on W. Third Street

The following arrest information was supplied by the South Orange police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Jonathan Powell, 23, of South Orange, was arrested on April 10 at 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ward Pl. and Gardner Ave. after an officer conducting a field inquiry discovered that Powell had an outstanding warrant issued out of South Orange for his arrest.  A Walton Road resident said that during the overnight of April 10, someone entered his 2011 Toyota and removed $10 in cash after ransacking the inside of the car. An Audley Street resident said that during the overnight of April 10, someone entered his 2009 Subaru and ransacked the inside of the car.  No items were stolen. A South Orange resident said that at approximately 8:35 a.m. on April 12, he was robbed at gun point while walking east on W. Third Street toward the train …

South Orange Police Blotter: Traffic Arrest, Stolen Saw

The following arrest information was supplied by the South Orange police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Maplewood juvenile was arrested on April 3, at approximately 3:45 p.m., after an investigation conducted by the detective bureau revealed that the juvenile committed a burglary from a house on Coudert Place. A 15 year old juvenile was arrested on April 5, at 6:15 p.m., after failing to comply with a lawful order by an officer.  The officer was on scene investigating an incident at the intersection of South Orange Avenue and Fairview Avenue.  The juvenile was transported to Police Headquarters and processed accordingly for Obstruction. Robert Chandler Jr., 26, of Millburn was arrested on April 6 at 11:52 a.m. on a charge of driving with a suspended license and the discovery of numerous traffic warrants issued for his arrest.  He was …

South Orange Police Blotter: Carjacking Suspects Arrested

The following arrest information was supplied by the South Orange police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Jermaine Williams, 39, of Newark was formally charged on March 23 in connection with the Dec. 1 burglary to a home on Irvington Ave.  Williams was charged for the crime after forensic evidence recovered at the scene by detectives lead to his identification.  He is currently in custody at the Union County jail. Three Newark residents, Bilal Cureton, 22, Freddie Wright, 20, and Murad Lampley, 21, were all arrested and formally charged for the carjacking that took place on Irvington Ave. on March 27.  The trio carjacked a Pennsylvania resident who was waiting to pick up Chinese food.  The victim said a black man, approximately 20 years old, with dreadlocks, exited a white Subaru and proceeded to physically pull him from his vehicle. South Orange Police Blotter: SOPD Halts an Armed Robbery

The following arrest information was supplied by the South Orange police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Newark resident told police that her Samsung Galaxy cell phone was taken from Pathmark on March 20, at approximately 3:30 p.m., as she was paying for groceries. Faye Harris, 34, was arrested on March 23, at approximately 9 a.m., after officers responded to a call of a robbery taking place at the Village Smoke Shop located on Village Plaza. When officers arrived, Harris was in possession of a knife and was demanding money from the store manager. Officers confronted Harris and ordered her to drop the knife. After Harris refused to comply, the officers disarmed her and took her into custody. No injuries were reported. South Orange Police Blotter: Underage Drinking Arrest, Outstanding Warrant Arrests

The following arrest information was supplied by the South Orange police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Clayton Mitchell, 46, of South Orange was arrested on March 15, at approximately 3:10 p.m., after officers arrived on the scene of an active home alarm on Berkley Ave and found Mitchell on the scene.  After noticing Mitchell, officers realized he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued out of the Essex County Sheriff's Department. Mitchell was arrested at the scene without incident and processed accordingly. Frankie Jordan, 57, of Newark was arrested on March 15, at approximately 2:30 p.m. for shoplifting at the Pathmark.  Jordan was seen removing cans of baby formula from a shelf and attempting to leave the store without paying for them.  Jordan was arrested at the scene without incident and processed accordingly.  Jordan also …

South Orange Police Blotter: Shoplifting Arrests, Armed Robbery

The following arrest information was supplied by the South Orange police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Damen Drakeford, 18, of Bushkill, Pa., was arrested on March 10 at 8:46 p.m., after officers responded to a call of juveniles being robbed by a group of teens in the area of Riggs Place and South Orange Avenue. The victims said a group of black youth, believed to be between 16 and 18 years old, robbed them of their cell phones, cash and food while they were walking on Riggs Place. Drakeford was arrested a short distance away from the scene after he was positively identified as one of the teens responsible for committing the robbery. The teens used intimidation and physical force to commit the robberies and no weapons were involved. South Orange Police Blotter: Underage Drinking, Drug Arrests

The following arrest information was supplied by the South Orange police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Seton Hall University student said sometime between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on March 8, someone removed her wallet from a desk in the library.  The wallet was later found in the library, stuffed into a CD rack.  Cash that had been in the wallet was removed. Sean Demor, an 18 year old South Orange resident, was arrested on March 8, at approximately 8:30 p.m., after an officer observed suspicious activity in the area of Holland Rd. and South Orange Ave.  While questioning Demor, the officer discovered that Demor was in possession of marijuana and as a result, Demor was taken into custody without incident and processed accordingly. South Orange Police Blotter: Resident Robbed at Gunpoint

The following arrest information was supplied by the South Orange police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Church St. resident said that on March 1, at approximately 11:05 a.m., someone entered her apartment by prying open her front door.  The victim said she was on the second floor of her residence and heard footsteps on the first floor.  The victim believed the footsteps were that of her dog walker but later discovered that her residence had been burglarized.  The burglar went through several drawers on the first floor removing numerous articles including silver coins.  A resident in the area observed a suspicious individual walking back and forth near the victim's front door a short time before the incident.  The suspicious individual is described as a black male, approximately 5"8" in height and was observed wearing blue jeans, a green …

South Orange Police Blotter: Intoxication Arrests

The following arrest information was supplied by the South Orange police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Paul Ciambruschini, a 31 year old Maplewood resident, was arrested on March 2, at approximately 2:30 a.m..  He was charged with possession of a weapon and disorderly conduct after officers responded to a call on First St. of an intoxicated person waving a knife while in the street.  Ciambruschini was apprehended at the scene, given medical attention and processed accordingly. A woman stated that on March 3, at approximately 11 p.m., her 2007 Mercedes was stolen while she left it running with the keys in the ignition front of 319 South Orange Ave. A Harding Dr. resident said that sometime on March 3, someone removed two packages from his front door containing a pair of boots and a headset. South Orange Police Blotter: Flasher Caught

The following arrest information was supplied by the South Orange police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Jenna Mangini, 19, of Montvale, was arrested on Feb. 24, at 2:05 a.m., after officers were called to Seton Hall University on a report of a disturbance in a residence hall. When officers investigated, they determined Mangini had assaulted another student by striking her several times in the face. Mangini was arrested at the scene without incident and processed. On Feb. 27, between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., four vehicles belonging to South Orange Middle School employees were keyed while they were parked in the rear parking lot of the school.
