How Many "Snow Days" Are Left in SO-M?

South Orange - Maplewood schools may have days "leftover"

With snow behind us -- fingers crossed! -- students are asking if there are any emergency closing days left over. The short answer is yes, it depends.  After Superstorm Sandy, the district calendar was amended.   Here is what's left: # of Emergency Closing Days Available Columbia High School 2 days Maplewood Middle School 0 days South Orange Middle School 2 days Clinton Elementary School 0 days Jefferson Elementary School 1 day Marshall Elementary School 2 days Seth Boyden Elementary School 2 days South Mountain Elementary School 2 days Tuscan Elementary School 0 days If any school is closed for inclement weather or other emergency for more than the allotted days, the first make-up day will be during Spring Recess beginning with April 8, …

Photos: Snow Falls on Floods Hill, Project Adventure, Able Baker

Tuesday saw the first significant snowfall of the season in South Orange and Maplewood

Back when this Patch editor was learning to be a teacher, a professor said, "The three most challenging days in the school year are picture day, Halloween, and the first snow." How true it is that the first significant snowfall generates as much excitement as an elementary school boiler generates heat!  The snow changes everything.
