Catherine Stratton Chiarello, Neighbor

I live in Maplewood with my husband, my daughter Rose and my son Jack. Rose is a sophomore at Columbia High School and Jack is a sophomore at The Hudson School in Hoboken. I am a filmmaker and specialize in making short films for a variety of clients including nonprofits, small businesses and creative companies and individuals. I recently produced a film for The Able Baker and a film that profiles a local artist, Rick Parker.

My roots in Maplewood run deep. My father grew up here and my Uncle Lou Stratton was very involved in Local Politics and ran a Real Estate business here from the 1930s up until 1973 when he passed away. You can see a plaque dedicated to him under the American Flag flying in downtown Maplewood in the small park across from the Movie Theater. His nickname was "Mr. Fly-the-Flag" because, everytime he sold a home, he gave the new owners an American flag and flag pole.
