ReplyA bank? Boring! Lets leave convenient things in convenient places (like by Whole Foods) and put something cool in the village.

ReplyNothing taller than 2 stories. Build a row of shops to match the buildings on the north side of the street. It should retain that village feel. Parking garages and tall apartment buildings can go on back streets.
It will cease to be a "village" if it has a huge parking garage or 8 story new construction apartment complex.

ReplyPolice reports state that that all 9 people shot at the Empire State Building were shot by the Police. Only one was the target. These are, one would assume, the most highly trained professionals when it came to shooting bad guys (outside of special services, etc). This sounds a horrible idea to me.

ReplyThe culture needs to shift. Currently it is rare that cars yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. I have stopped for someone to cross, only to have the cars coming in the opposite direction keep speeding through - making for dangerous situation. I have also had the police stop to allow me to cross, and cars in the opposite direction speeding through until the cop turned on the red/blue lights - it's ridiculous.
Of course pedestrians should be proactive and aware, but you will never convince me that a man who struck a woman and child in a crosswalk (at any speed) was proceeding cautiously, and not recklessly and carelessly.

ReplyFair enough, Carolyn, but I would prefer the police ticket the man for reckless driving or something similar, to serve as a public safety notice for drivers.
