ReplyOr maybe this is just representative of how they conduct their affairs... if it walks like a duck...
As to the charges, the bar is required to maintain a book of sales on premises to be available for inspection at anytime by the ABC, or file for an exception. This would obviously help to prevent any non-reported sales or other shenanigans. It would seem that they didn't do that.
The underage drinking charges are just what they seem, of course. And by the way, they do get to answer the charges, all of this is pending.

ReplyNot only did they spend an outrageous amount of money, they shouted down and belittled anyone who disagreed with their position, suggesting that other options would put our children's health at risk, when it turns out that that just ins't true. I'm just curious, at what point do these folks get held responsible for their actions? I am responsible everyday, yet it seems like we have had numbers poor decisions that have cost us taxpayers lots of money... isn't it time to hold SOMEONE accountable? Oh yeah, and can we get a straight answer to the question: WHO IS PAYING FOR THIS OUTRAGEOUS BLUNDER?

ReplyThis bartenders behavior is the worst kept secret in town. Most people I know have witnessed drunk and somewhat outrageous behavior from this guy over the years. He shouldn't be behind the bar in the first place. John I respect your suggestion that this be handled by the courts, but the truly responsible thing would be for the elder Meade to acknowledge what he and everyone else already knows, that his son shouldn't be behind the bar, and has a troubling history of interactions with patrons that has been largely ignored or hidden.

Kenny J., nope, not one iota. Please don't presume to know my opinions on all matters, not my political affiliations and history. My comments are responses to others, it would be a real treat if we could try to stay focused on that. This is not a discussion on welfare or welfare reform, and you have no basis to assume that I hold some stereotypical view of welfare recipients (or anyone else for that matter). I've kept my comments very civil, I don't think it's unreasonable to accept the same in return.

No Kristen, that is precisely the point. Adam Lanza's mother was NOT a law abiding gun owner (nor was she even remotely thoughtful about her guns). She gave direct access, and in fact instruction to her mentally disabled son.

This is just flatly inappropriate, and has nothing to do with this discussion. I think you owe Kristen an apology.

Wow, Marylou... applying presumed guilt on an entire class of people? That really is pretty outrageous. I understand that you are frustrated, and This is certainly a discussion that needs to be had, but assuming that a gun owner is most likely guilty of a crime by virtue of the fact that they (legally) own guns is precisely the sort of thing that turns these conversations into personal attacks and fear mongering on both sides.

Well, crazies yes, by definition.. Automatic weapons? Nope, not a one. Arizona was a pistol, the others were various rifles. If I may, for anyone who hasn't spent time collecting the actual facts of these events, it seems that unsupervised crazies is the common thread, who never should have had access to guns in the first place.

Good job by all parties to get this settled.
